A few weeks ago, at Toronto Tavern, someone was talking about… something, and if I could remember exactly what, then I’d give the name of the guy who was talking about it and this would be a much better story. The gist of it was that some formerly young woman had been let go from a position she used to hold, and the guy who was talking about this believed that the man who had let her go had done so because she was no longer young enough to suit his tastes.
“Right,” I said, holding up the palm of my left hand, “her gemstone started flashing.”
The guy looked at me with absolutely no change of expression, and said, “Once again, Cameron, I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.”
This I can live with, considering that when I said it for the first time, I said it without the hyperlink. But today I told this story to three other people at work, one of whom is my age and the other two of whom are sci-fi fans, and none of them knew what the hell I was talking about.
Apparently, I do live entirely inside my head.

Sad to admit, until I clicked on the hyperlink, I didn’t know what you were talking about. I’ve never seen “Logan’s Run”, though I’ve heard about it.
Never seen Logan’s Run? James, as someone who admits to indulging in camp/crap Sci-Fi you owe it to yourself to see that movie!

It wasn’t me. I get it, and I have even referenced it myself… with great success with non-sci-fi geeks too.
