Six squared

Last Christmas, my friend Trese gave me a "Forgotten English" desk calendar for 2007. Each day brings another obscure or outmoded word that's been dropped from the common vocabulary: culch, pharmacopolist, smartish-few, agapemone, glacier, etc.

Today's word is "ruderary," meaning "Belonging to, or formed of, rubbish." "From the root of Latin rudis, indicating the primary sense of rude, to be broken."

Happy birthday to me.
